I have a familial attraction to Lancaster bombers, since one of my Uncles was part of restoration of the only flying Lancaster bomber in North America (and one of two in the world) at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
So, I was totally enthralled to see Amjet Aircraft Corporation's beautiful Lancaster derivitive Shackleton Airborne Early Warning plane on the flightline in the war-birds area. This plane won the EAA's Most Rare Bomber award.
The Shakleton uses the Lancaster bomber airframe fitted with more powerful engines driving counter-rotating propellers. For more information on this type, check out this page.
